It’s of course too early to say what we’ll end up using but it turns out I wasn’t familiar with the majority of The Voice of Love. Of course if magic awaits it won’t be down to us per se but reasserts the mindboggling question as to how the writing team misfired so horrendously with all at their disposal. Visualising scenes with these “new” musical contexts invigorate the imagination and a nascent confidence that something genuinely great could be assembled. The music just is the show, it’s so exciting hearing future possibilities. Listening conjures those nostalgic images of Northwest Passage.
TWIN PEAKS SEASON TWO ANDY LUCY ARCHIVE
We currently don’t have Lynch’s self-released Twin Peaks Archive which may end up being essential*. We’ll be avoiding Fire Walk With Me cues (despite that being an all-time favourite soundtrack of mine) and aren’t looking at repeating existing iconic needle drops from Season One (‘Into the Night’, ‘The Nightingale’ etc.) Queued up are Julee Cruise’s Floating Into The Night (1989) and Voice of Love alongside Music from Twin Peaks (1990), Music from Season Two & More (2007) and the self-titled Thought Gang album. Here I’m referring to the Thought Gang material (eventually released in 2018) and Julee Cruise’s The Voice Of Love (1993). Julee Cruise sings her ethereal heart outīadalamenti and Lynch were working on music throughout the making of Fire Walk With Me, which either explicitly had TP in mind or was subsequently used in the film or Return.
